EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Therapy is an evidenced base therapy approach that helps people who've experienced difficult or traumatic events. EMDR is an evidence based therapy approach.
EMDR can be used in a number of experiences, including PTSD and complex trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias, grief and loss, addictions and performance anxiety.
In EMDR your therapist will work with you to identify memories that are causing you distress in your current life. During EMDR your therapist will guide you through a process that involves thinking about the troubling memory whilst also paying attention to eye movements from side to side or tapping (called bilateral stimulation). This helps the brain to process the memory in a healthier way. Over time, with EMDR, the memory can start to feel less intense, as though it is not causing as much (or any) distress in your current life.
